FOURTH STATION - Jesus meets his afflicted mother
We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you:
Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world.
Reading:
What can I say for you, to what compare you, O daughter of Jerusalem? What can I liken to you, that I may comfort you, O virgin daughter of Zion? For your ruin is vast as the sea; who can heal you? Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. The Lord will be your everlasting light, and your days of mourning shall be ended.
Lamentations 2:13; Matthew 5:4; Isaiah 60:20
A sword will pierce your own soul also:
And fill your heart with bitter pain.
Let us pray.
O God, who willed that in the passion of your Son a sword of grief should pierce the soul of the Blessed Virgin Mary his mother: Mercifully grant that your Church, having shared with her in his passion, may be made worthy to share in the joys of his resurrection; who lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen.
Holy God,
Holy and Mighty,
Holy Immortal One,
Have mercy upon us.
Pray for Education and the Safety of Children
Pray that children will hear the gospel and encounter Christ early in life; that God’s fatherly heart will be revealed to kids, especially to those who may have been wounded or disappointed by their parents; for family stability; for excellence in education; for wisdom to be formed in their early years; for safety from perversion and violence. Pray that teachers and mentors will impart Godly wisdom to help form character in their students; for needed tools and proper facilities.
