Feast of the Annunciation

In our effort to continue to observe our Bishop's instructions that we should celebrate all the Feasts of Our Lord, we will be celebrating The Annunciation Friday at 5:30PM with a short service of Holy Communion.

The full name of the feast is "The Annunciation of Our Lord to the Blessed Virgin Mary" but we call it "The Annunciation" for short. This feast commemorates the Archangel Gabriel announcing God's intent to send Jesus.

"And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.” (Luke 1:31-33)

The Feast is on March 25 (9 months before Christmas). Happily, it occurs during Lent reminding us that as we struggle with our desire to be holy and and subdue our old nature, God has intervened and acted on our behalf.

When all humanity was lost in sin, God sent his Son to save them -  to save you and me. This feast is as much "Protestant" as it is "Catholic" for it belongs to all Christians. It is a feast that is in the Reformation 1662 Book of Common Prayer. It is a celebration of the Gospel.

Tomorrow (Friday) we break from our Lenten fast to feast together to celebrate God's divine invasion of history.

Plan to come to Communion at 5:30. Bring your families. It is short. We will be done by 6:30PM.

If you're unable to attend, here are the readings.
